‘New Fears’ is the latest offering from Norwegian newcomer and exceptional songwriter, HALIE. Despite being just eighteen years old, she has an impressive grasp of pop music, combining the soulful vocal influences of Amy Winehouse with the modern pop artistry of Lorde. On this bouncy, soaring number, she says it’s “about embracing your fears and just do it. Even if it doesn’t fit into society’s way of doing stuff. It is supposed to show people how I cope with my fears, acknowledge them, but then again just do it if it brings me closer to my goals”. Despite gaining impressive amounts of attention with her previous tunes, such as ‘Youth’, ‘New Fears’ has cemented her position as one to watch over the course of 2020.
